Lutheran Social Services stabilizes people during crisis and transition, builds a foundation where people can thrive, and preserves dignity and respect for the most vulnerable across Phoenix, Glendale, and Arizona. With the help of LSS-SW, St. John's emergency financial assistance program serves as a critical intervention preventing homelessness by keeping families housed during temporary financial crises. Our rapid-response fund enables immediate assistance with rent and utility payments, helping families avoid eviction and utility shutoffs that can spiral into long-term housing instability. While we previously served clients through Lutheran Social Services case management, we now provide direct assistance while working to rebuild comprehensive support services, recognizing that preventing homelessness is far more cost-effective than addressing its aftermath.
