Hear from Our Synod Assembly Delegates

This year, the Grand Canyon Synod Assembly brought together Lutherans from across the Southwest to worship, learn, discern, and make important decisions for the future of our shared ministry. The Grand Canyon Synod is made up of more than 80 Lutheran congregations and ministries throughout Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. Under the leadership of Bishop Deborah Hutterer, representatives from these churches gathered to pray, deliberate, and chart a course for the years ahead.
St. John's was well represented at this year's assembly by Pastors Peter and Dan, along with Herb and Cindy Schilling, and Jeri Newnam. We are grateful for their willingness to serve as voting members and to represent our congregation during this important gathering.
The work of a synod assembly extends far beyond a single meeting. Through worship, discussion, elections, resolutions, and ministry planning, delegates help shape how congregations across the region work together to share the Gospel, serve their communities, and support one another in ministry.
We look forward to hearing updates from our delegates about their experiences at the assembly on Sunday, June 14, the decisions that were made, and the opportunities that lie ahead for congregations throughout the Grand Canyon Synod. Their insights will help us better understand how St. John's participates in the larger mission of the Church and how we can continue to partner with fellow Lutherans across the region. If you are not able to hear their report in person on Sunday, look for their report in our July newsletter.
Please join us in thanking Pastors Peter and Dan, Herb and Cindy Schilling, and Jeri Newnam for their service and dedication. We are blessed by their leadership and grateful for the time and energy they devoted to representing our congregation.
