Please Keep Our Synod Assembly in Your Prayers

Next week, voting members from across the Grand Canyon Synod of the ELCA will gather for the 2026 Synod Assembly, taking place June 11–13 at Love of Christ Lutheran Church in Mesa.

The Grand Canyon Synod is made up of more than 80 Lutheran congregations and ministries across Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. Under the leadership of Bishop Deborah Hutterer, representatives from these churches will come together to worship, learn, discern, and make important decisions that will help guide our shared ministry in the years ahead.

St. John's will be represented by Pastors Peter and Dan, along with Herb and Cindy Schilling, and Jeri Newnam. We are grateful for their willingness to serve as voting members and to represent our congregation during this important gathering.

As they prepare to attend, we invite our church family to keep all participants in your prayers. Pray for safe travel, meaningful conversations, wisdom in decision-making, and openness to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Pray for Bishop Hutterer, assembly leaders, staff, volunteers, and all voting members as they gather in faith and fellowship.

May this assembly be a time of encouragement, collaboration, and renewed commitment to sharing Christ's love throughout our communities and beyond.
